I dont know what to say. We dropped are driveshaft on I-84. In a peterbilt 579 2019 and Bill saved the day!!! He stayed on the job until finished. He went as far as finding parts that peterbilt didnt have and going to the machine shop. Great guy got the job done and saved us money!!!

starts having gear switching issues and we had a persistent overheating issue ,this mechanic is amazing . Bill came to us and diagnosed the problem .We only had to wait 20 minutes, i mean this type service is priceless, this mechanic is simply amazing.This guy is the real deal at a great price.

Within seconds he knew what the issues were and fixed our car in about an hour ,he even went and got the parts needed...let me stress we have taken our car to numerous mechanics in the past and they never could tell us why our car was overheating, with seconds this mechanic found the fan was the issue and replaced it,he found other issues and fixed it too.I highly recommend him not only was he kind and friendly he was affordable and fast.Best mechanic ever and great price.

Bill was an awesome help. I called about 530am had to call a second time and he apologized for not answering the first time he was sick the previous day still healing up. Bill was extremely prompt and kind when he showed up. I had a very flat tire and he took the time to not only show me how to change a tire but also how to repair holes in a tire using a simple patchwork kit. He was efficient and extremely affordable. My husband and I were just on a trip with our truck and travel trailer. We ended up stuck in La Grande (5 hours from home) because of an issue with our turbo. Bill saved the day. I lost a water pump on our companies sales truck. It would have been a 10 mile hike to the closes town, but Bill took care of me. I never seen a man so concerned for my well being. He wanted to make sure I was taken care of and on the road as fast as possible.

Total repair time on a F250 7.3 Diesel 1 hour 15 minutes. Impressive!

Five stars aren't enough! "Absolute Hero" and "Lifesaver" are both correct! I met Bill completely at random - he happened to drive by just as I had limped to a stop at the bottom of a freeway exit. Towed me to the nearest parking lot (because by that point we were apparently done even limping), quickly diagnosed the problem & fixed it on the spot! Not only that, but when he was done he let me borrow his phone (I was out of range) to call my fellow travelers to let them know what was going on. People like Bill are enough to restore your faith in humanity!

Bill has never once charged me even close to what other shops have quoted. Excellent customer service every time. Answers my calls night or day and has come miles out to fix my truck when I have broke down far from home. When ever I can't pay he works it out with me and is always understanding of my situation. I have can rely on him when no one else will.

Bill was truly and literally an answer to our prayers! As we were driving into Baker City as a part of a 3000 mile round trip from Seattle to Phoenix, our dash lights in our Dodge Grand Caravan started flashing. I called O’Reilleys and they said they could test my battery and alternator. They did and told me the alternator was bad and when I asked them if they knew anyone, they called Bill who came in, even though it was Sunday afternoon. We went and had dinner at the Truck Corral (also awesome) and by the time we came back he had the alternator out and was putting the new one back in. He had it fixed in no time. We went a mile or so on I 84 and the belt shredded. We called him and he came out right away with a new belt at no extra charge and had it replaced in a few minutes and told us to text him when we made it home to Seattle. And told us he would come 500 miles down the road to get us if we had any more problems. Great service. Great compassion. Great person.

My road trip began in Chicago Illinois, and meandered for almost 2,500 Miles through some of the most beautiful places in the country. As I was approaching Baker City, Oregon, I found out that my gas was low. As I approached the first gas station that I could find, I noticed my car was making a horrible noise and it just got louder. I turned off the car and filled up the tank. When I started up the engine, the noise was even louder. Upon looking under the hood, I found out that the serpentine belt was askew. I assessed that this was the cause of the noise. I checked at the automotive shop across the street. They had nothing to help me.

I jumped to my phone to see where I could get a serpentine belt for my 2003 Volvo XC70 in a small town in SE Oregon. First was NAPA Auto Parts... nope. Then I tried Carquest. The guy I talked to there said that he would have to track down the part, but that he might know a guy who could fix it. He connected me with Bill Steele of East Side Diesel. Bill had been at the Carquest picking up a part for another job. He came over to where I was at, checked out my car. He informed me that not only was the belt bad, but that also another bearing was bad. He found both parts and replaced them within 2 hours from the moment that I first spoke with him. He did an amazing job and only charged $200 for parts and labor. I felt like this was very fair. After all of this, he then left to fix the previously mentioned job.

I can not stress how wonderful my experience with Bill and East Side Diesel was. He has 5 star reviews because he is that great.

My 379 peterbilt broke down outside Baker city, Or. Late one night, and I googled truck repair and came across Bill, the owner of East side diesel truck repair. He met me immediately, fixed my issue and was professional, friendly, and just a super good guy. The cost was far less than I expected, considering we went to town to get parts (after hours) because he is friends with the owner of the local carquest. I was stranded and broken the frame on my truck gotten it horribly stuck and blew a head gasket while trying to get it out.
